Service-company recruitment in India follows a predictable pattern. The students who crack it consistently do four things differently. This post is a candid look at what worked for the MIA 2026 batch.

The four habits

  • Daily problem-solving — minimum two coding problems per day for the 90 days before drives.
  • Aptitude practice — IndiaBix and PrepInsta dailies; aptitude rounds eliminate 60% of candidates.
  • Mock interviews on camera — recording reveals the verbal tics and confidence gaps no slide deck shows.
  • Resume tailoring per company — TCS values process-orientation, Infosys leans technical, Cognizant likes communication.

What service-company interviews actually ask

Round 1 is usually aptitude and basic coding (arrays, strings, simple recursion). Round 2 is technical with one DBMS question, one OOP question, one project deep-dive. Round 3 is HR with classic “tell me about yourself”, “why this company”, and “where in five years”. Practise the boring ones; they decide more offers than the technical ones.
